Telomir Pharmaceuticals Announces Breakthrough in Type 2 Diabetes Treatment with Telomir-1
Telomir Pharmaceuticals (TELO), a pioneer in age-reversal science, has unveiled promising preclinical results highlighting the transformative potential of Telomir-1 in addressing Type 2 diabetes. Conducted in collaboration with India-based Pentagrit, the study evaluated Telomir-1 in zebrafish models of diabetes induced by high-calorie diets, revealing groundbreaking outcomes.
Key findings include significant reductions in fasting glucose levels and improvements in oral glucose tolerance, demonstrating Telomir-1’s ability to restore glucose homeostasis. The study also showed improved insulin sensitivity, with insulin resistance reversed to near pre-diabetic levels. These outcomes were supported by lower HOMA-IR values, a critical metric of insulin resistance, and increased survival rates in treated models.
Telomir-1 works by targeting the root causes of insulin resistance through a novel mechanism of action that addresses systemic iron metabolism. Excess iron contributes to oxidative stress and beta-cell damage, impairing insulin sensitivity. By normalizing iron levels, Telomir-1 not only reduces oxidative stress but also restores beta-cell function, setting it apart from existing treatments that focus solely on symptom management.
“Telomir-1 is redefining the possibilities for treating chronic diseases,” said Erez Aminov, Chairman and CEO of Telomir. “These preclinical findings support our vision of addressing the root causes of diseases like Type 2 diabetes, rather than just managing symptoms.”
With Type 2 diabetes affecting over 800 million people globally and annual healthcare costs exceeding $966 billion, the implications of Telomir-1 are significant. Telomir plans to extend its research into aging-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s, osteoarthritis, and cancer, exploring Telomir-1’s broader therapeutic potential.
Telomir-1’s novel approach represents a paradigm shift in chronic disease management, offering hope for transformative solutions to one of the world’s most pressing health challenges.
