Elon Musk says Dell and Super Micro Computer are providing the server racks for xAI’s supercomputer
Wednesday on X, Elon Musk said that Dell is assembling half the racks going into the xAI supercomputer. Separately, when asked who’s building the other half, Musk responded “SMC,” in reference to Super Micro Computer.
Shares of both companies moved higher following Musk’s tweets.
The “worlds largest supercomputer” will be built in Memphis, according to Fortune.
Separately, Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, said its company is building a “Dell AI factory” with NVIDIA to power Grok for xAI, on X.
xAI is Musk’s competitor to the AI space, challenging OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and more. The company was started last year, and has its own AI project called Grok.
