Ideal Power Secures Order from Forbes Global 500 Company
Ideal Power (IPWR) announced today that it has secured an order for its SymCool power modules and drivers from a Forbes Global 500 leader in diverse power management markets. This order is part of the company’s ongoing B-TRAN test and evaluation program.
We are excited to supply SymCool power modules to a renowned global leader in power management. This company is assessing our modules for potential use in their innovative bidirectional solid-state circuit breaker products, which are applied across various industrial sectors.
Dan Brdar, President and CEO of Ideal Power
Brdar also indicated that this order could lead to more extensive collaborations, including design wins and custom development agreements. He expects these initiatives to start positively impacting sales by the second half of 2024.
The decision to place this order came after the customer conducted testing of Ideal Power’s discrete B-TRAN devices. These tests demonstrated that the B-TRAN technology, incorporated into SymCool modules, substantially reduces conduction losses compared to traditional power semiconductors like Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs). This improvement in efficiency not only conserves energy but also simplifies the cooling systems, thereby reducing manufacturing costs and enhancing the overall economic efficiency of products like solid-state circuit breakers.
In response to the customer’s requests, Ideal Power has issued high-volume quotes for the SymCool modules. Moreover, the customer is contemplating further evaluations of Ideal Power’s technology for additional power conversion applications, indicating broader potential applications and market penetration.
What This Means for Ideal Power: This strategic order marks a significant milestone for Ideal Power and demonstrates the market’s increasing recognition of its B-TRAN technology. As global industries intensify their focus on energy efficiency and cost reduction, Ideal Power’s innovative solutions are well-positioned to transform energy control systems, particularly in applications demanding high efficiency and operational reliability. The successful deployment of SymCool in SSCB applications could set a precedent for broader adoption in the power management sector, potentially reshaping market trends and enhancing Ideal Power’s competitive stance.
