Why CrowdStrike stock is trading lower today

CrowdStrike (NASDAQ:CRWD) stock traded lower after the company suffered a major outage which has impacted many companies globally.
The outage has had a wide range of implications ranging from disrupting doctors’ offices to grounding flights hundreds of flights from multiple airlines.
CrowdStrike CEO gave an update on the outage on X, noting that the outage was caused by a defect in a single content update for Windows hosts, and not by a security incident or cyberattack.
The outage is also negatively impacting Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) stock.
CrowdStrike was trading 13% lower at $298.50 Friday morning on above-average daily volume even though it’s still premarket.
